Proposal Module Overview

Content Introduction: 

This tutorial will give you an overview of the information available in the Proposal module. For more detailed information about each field, see the visual dictionaries on the Help and Tutorials page.

The Proposal module is usually accessed by choosing Maintain > Proposals from the menu bar or by clicking on the shortcut button:

After performing a search for a proposal, you can open it from the search results by double-clicking on it or clicking on the display button:

The proposal’s information will then appear in a new window. Note that the window's title bar tells you that you are displaying a proposal, the proposal's number, and its sequence number. You'll also notice that this window has several tabs across the top.

The tabs help to logically group the information. A picture of the information available on each tab is below. Notes are provided for clarification.

Proposal tab

This tab contains basic information about the proposal. The Account field is not used. The Grad Students area is also not used. The Seq No field displays the sequence number of the proposal. Every time a proposal is revised, a new sequence number is created.

Mailing Info tab

This tab contains information about how the proposal was sent. The Account field is not used.

Investigators tab

This tab contains information about the investigators. The % Effort field is not used. The pointing finger in the top section indicates which row is selected. Departmental information about the investigator in that row is diplayed in the section below. Clicking on a different investigator will display corresponding information below.

Cost Sharing tab

This tab contains cost sharing information. The Percentage field is not used.

IDC Rates tab

This tab contains information about IDC rates (also known as F&A rates).

Special Review tab

This tab contains information about regulatory compliance approvals.

Science Codes tab

This tab contains science codes that relate to the project. Science codes are used to describe the project's activity and help ASU categorize the various types of research done at the university.

IP Review tab

This tab is not used.

Other tab

This tab contains miscellaneous information not found on the other tabs.
