Notepad

Content Introduction:

Notepad is a feature that is common to both the Proposal and Award modules. It allows those who enter data to make notes that are "attached" to the proposal or award. At times it may be useful for users to review these notes.

Notepad is available when viewing search results, when a proposal or award is open, or when Medusa is open. You can open Notepad any time you see the shortcut button on the toolbar:

Notepad can also be opened using drop-down menus. When viewing search results, or when a proposal is open, it can be found on the Edit drop-down menu. When viewing an award, it can be found on the Details drop-down menu. When using Medusa, it can be found on the View drop-down menu.

When you open Notepad, a window like the one below will appear. The left side of the screen shows the relationship between proposals and awards in a hierarchy. It works the same way as in Medusa, with one exception: subcontracts do no appear in the hierarchy because notes can't be attached to subcontracts.

Indicates a proposal.       Indicates an award.

When the Proposal --> Award radio button is selected, the hierarchy will appear as it does below, with the proposal(s) at the top of the tree and the award(s) that stemmed from them below.

When the Award --> Proposal radio button is selected, the hierarchy will appear as it does below, with the award(s) at the top of the tree and the proposal(s) they came from below.

If there are no notes associated with the award or proposal at the left, the right side of the window will appear blank. You can select a different award or proposal in the hierarchy by clicking on it. If there are notes, they will be displayed at the right along with the name of the person who attached the note and the date it was attached.
