Training Requirements

All researchers (principal investigators and co-investigators) conducting human subjects research must complete training. At this time, there are two training options that are offered online. Researchers must complete one of the courses.

• NIH Training Course
  Researchers can complete the NIH training course “Protecting Human Research Participants”.

• CITI Training Course
  Researchers have the option of completing the CITI Training Course. More detailed instructions for accessing the course can be found here.

Course Completion

After completion of the training course, researchers should print two copies of the certificate:

1. keep one for their records and
2. forward one copy to the Office of Research Integrity and Assurance with the IRB application.
