ASU delivers services to investigators and sponsors through a Distributed Services Model. Responsibility to provide service to investigators and sponsors is shared by a central unit and multiple decentralized academic, research and administrative units.

The Office for Research and Sponsored Projects Administration (ORSPA) is the central unit whose primary mission is to preserve ASU’s ability to compete for external funds by ensuring that regulatory requirements are properly integrated and consistently implemented throughout the university.

Research Advancement (RA) units are the decentralized academic, research and administrative units closest to the investigators and best able to support their individual goals, as well as promote the unique mission of their units. RA units provide the first point of contact for investigators and work collaboratively with ORSPA as responsibilities transition from one unit to the other throughout the life of a project.
